During this trip we first visit the subtropical forest of the Southern Amazon and then the former Inca empire in the Andean highlands. Our jungle adventure offers you amazing wildlfe and some of the best spots in the world for birdwatching. You will observe macaws, monkeys, snakes, giant otters. Then we travel on to explore the amazing Inca remains and ruins at Cusco and Machu Picchu high in the Andean mountains. We visit typical Inca towns, colourful markets and people. |
Itinerary

Day 1: Lima
On day one you'll arrive in Lima and transfer to your hotel. We can arrange tours if you are there early and would like to explore. |
Day 2: Lima - Pto. Maldonado - Amazon Lodge Tambopata
Morning transfer to the airport for a flight to Puerto Maldonado to be continued with a 1 hour motorboat ride on the Tambopata River to our jungle lodge. After a short rest and fresh up, we receive cmplete briefing about the lodge and ecotourism project. Our af-ternoon activity is a short walk through the forest to arrive at the 35 meters high Canopy Tower, offering spectacular views of the river and rainforest. (B,L,D) |
Day 3: Amazon Jungle Lodge
Start with an an early morning visit to the Tres Chimbadas oxbow lake. After breakfast, depart from Posada Amazonas by boat and take a brief walk to the lake shore followed by a long, easy canoe ride around the lake where our Peru ecotour may include sightings of giant river otters, turtles, hoatzin and wading birds. Return to the lodge's trails to see a small parakeet clay lick where dozens, and sometimes hundreds, of parakeets congregate on clear days to ingest clay. In the afternoon, visit the community's ethnobo-tanical center and hike the surrounding trails with a resident guide who will explain the everyday uses of forest resources in medici-ne, construction, food and fiber. After this educational day of our Peru tour, the evening will be spent at the lodge. (B,L,D) |
Day 4: Pto. Maldonado - Cusco
Early departure downriver to the airport of Pto. Maldonado for a short flight to Cusco, ancient capital of the Inca empire. Our guide pick you up at the airport for a transfer to your hotel. Along the way a quick tour of the colonial Plaza de Armas. Rest of the day free to relax and to get used to the altitude. (B) |
Day 5: Cusco
In the morning we will have a guided walking tour through the colorful markets of Cusco as well as the other important attrac-tions,among them: the colonial cathedral and the Temple of the Sun Koricancha. After lunch, an afternoon tour of Inca temples and several other Inca sights, including: the fortress of Sacsay-huaman, Kenko, Puka Pukara and the water temple, Tambo Ma-chay. Late afternoon return to your hotel: relax or explore the interesting culture of Cusco. (B) |
Day 6: Cusco - Sacred Valley
Full day guided excursion to the Sacred Valley. Guided excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, with a visit to the ruins of Inca towns of Pisac, Urubamba and Ollantaytambo. Explore local textile and handcraft markets. Overnight in a local hotel. (B,L) |
Day 7: Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu
A short walk to the train station where we will board the comforta-ble morning train to Machu Picchu. Arrival at the little village of Aguas Calientes, from where a bus will take you to the famous ruins of Machu Picchu. Later today you have the option to visit the hot springs of Aguas Calientes. Day 8: Machu Picchu - Cusco
Early wake up to experience sunrise at Machu Picchu! Don't miss this unique and spectacular happening. Be sure your camera is ful-ly charged. The afternoon train will take you back to Cusco, trans-fer to your hotel. (B) |
Day 9: Cusco - Lima - end
Morning transfer to the airport for the return flight to Lima and your connecting international flight. Trip extensions to other re-gions or extra days in Lima or Cusco can also be arranged. (B) |
